Cathy Johns – Chief Trek Guide. Cathy has spent her life with horses. She has twelve years experience with Kowhai Equestrian Centre and has competed to intermediate level in eventing. She has trained as a horse masseuse, has NZQA Horse Trek Guiding and Level Two ANH. She now has a school aged family and has continued trekking and riding for pleasure.

Kate Tapley - Director. Kate has a lifetime of experience with people and horses. She brings her qualifications as a Nurse, Social Worker, Counsellor and Horsewoman, to make your experience at Mt Lyford Horse Treks more than just a ride on a horse.

Kate also runs Otahuna Horse Riding in Tai Tapu, half an hour from Christchurch, where she uses the same principles of partnering up and natural horsemanship.
