Each trek may have up to eight riders participating. We have a minimum ratio of one guide to four riders. Riding Sessions include registration, gearing up, a short video, partnering up with your horse and trekking. The sessions go from two hours to all day.

All horses are carefully chosen for your size, ability and style of riding.

We offer riding at 10.00am, 1.30pm and 5.00pm during daylight saving hours, min 2 riders.

Fees below are per person, and in New Zealand dollars.

Two Hour Sessions $110

One and a half hour horse contact time including partnering up.

One rider only (riders may invite others to join them or join an existing booked ride) $150.00

Three Hour Session $130.00

Two and a half hour horse contact time including partnering up.

One rider only (riders may invite others to join them or join an existing booked ride) $180.00

All Day Rides $240

Up to 6 hrs riding, includes lunch & partnering up. (One rider $290)

Ride to the Maxxx Card

The Maxxx Card applies to the Three Hour rides normally $130.00. With a Maxxx card your fee is reduced to $90.00 for the card holder and any rider invited to join them. The card costs $360.00 and buys your first 4 rides. It is valid for 3 months (or all Winter, June to September) and can be used at Akaroa. Otahuna or Mt. Lyford. Exclusive Rides - Your Own Guide

A personal trek guide for you, or your party for as long as you like.

Fee is twice the group ride fee.

Riding Weekends for women, adults, families and groups min 3 riders

Includes accommodation in gorgeous log house, lunches and spas. $360.00

Accommodation & Holiday Options

There are good opportunities for an extended stay at Mt. Lyford. We have different trails to explore for a week from our trekking base. Stay in any of the near by accommodation and enjoy this stunning area for days on end. Riders receive $20.00 discount per night for staying at Pokaka Log Home.

Mt Lyford to Hanmer Springs 3 days and return 7 days

Luxury Adventure - Combine Horse Trekking with fine dining at Sherwood Lodge. 2-7 days $760.00pp per day

Rustic Adventure - 3 days includes half day warm up, food and accommodation 3 days $1395.00pp

Return Trip - in 7 days over mostly different trails with rest day in Hanmer Springs $2,895.00pp

There is a unique opportunity to train in leadership and team building for businesses and groups, using our partnering up theme.

Horses are perfect trainers for this as they will only accept authentic leadership and genuine connection.

Bring your own horse

Bring your own horse option is becoming very popular. This involves riding your own horse over our trails with a guide, and includes overnighting your horses and gear in their own small paddocks.

Fee is half the usual fee

Discounts for large groups.

Cancelation Policy

If your arrangement changes at the last minute call 03 3290160.

Not Arriving for a ride without attempting to contact us will cost 50% of the fee for the ride pp.

Cancelling a ride within 12 hours carries will cost 25% of the fee for the ride pp. This does not apply in the case of bad weather, accident or illness.

Arriving late: Guides will attempt to make your time up, but are not obligated to do so, and you may forfeit your booked time and the fee remains the same.

Adding riders at the last minute: This is possible and worth asking for, but inclusion of that rider is always at the discretion of the guide.

Withdrawing riders at the last minute: Payment to be made in full.
